This year’s exhibit features social justice collages, symbolic self-portraits, and linocuts depicting Virgin Islands’ heroes, created by Niarus Walkers' students from St. Croix Central High School and Suenita Banwares' Good Hope Country Day School’s middle and upper school students.

The exhibition, curated by Lucien Downes and organized by CMCArts, is based on themes of the seasonal spring equinox in the realms of rebirth, renewal, new beginnings and enlightenment.

Fifteen Virgin Islands artists beckoned to over 230 patrons at the opening of V.I. Contemporary Art III at Cane Roots Art Gallery in downtown Christiansted on Friday. The exhibition is dedicated to the late Candia Atwater-Shields, Esq., founder of the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts.

The “Legacy” exhibit at Cane Roots Art Gallery in downtown Christiansted is Tien Jameson’s bold offerings of her mixed media art. This artist opened her one-woman show on Art Thursday in January with sculptures and paintings that espouse her multi-cultural heritage. The collection boasts twenty-three distinctive Tien Jameson creations.

“The Art Show 2024'' exhibit will kick off at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts in downtown Frederiksted on Jan. 20, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Patrons will be treated to live music, appetizers and a cash bar at the opening reception. The exhibit will run through Feb. 10.

Festival evokes the splendor of Crucian culture in many facets. Cane Roots Art Gallery shares “Masks, Music & Costumes” on Company Street in downtown Christiansted. The art-filled room  – seen from the outside –  draws the viewer in to experience the tasteful ambiance and deftly curated works offered by gallerist Sonia Deane. The show closes Jan. 12.

Artist La Vaughn Belle’s solo exhibit, “Being of Myth and Memory,” at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts on Strand St. in downtown Frederiksted, opened Dec. 2 and can be seen through Jan. 13, Tuesday - Saturday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Ray Miles, an artist and photographer born and raised in London who has lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands since 1961, will have 26 oil paintings on display Friday on St. Thomas.

Studio Walsh and the ARTFarm Family will hold an opening reception on Friday and Saturday for an exhibit entitled “Hope for the Future,” with works from Luca Gasperi, Christina Frederick Gasperi, and Marina Gasperi.

Celebrated artist Theda Sandiford has been selected to represent the U.S. Virgin Islands at the prestigious International Fiber Art Festival, World of Threads

The “Freedom” Exhibit opened in the upstairs gallery at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts on Aug. 5 to an enthusiastic crowd of art lovers. The group of artists exhibiting are mostly women, with the youngest member, a 15-year-old young man, and three short-film production teams. The collective energies of the participating artists produced a show that will have its last viewing when the doors open Saturday at 9 a.m.

The Caribbean Genealogy Library will hold an exhibit of old images of St. Thomas from the Michael and Jane Sheen Historic Postcard Collection, paired with photographs taken today of the same location, on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

The art show commemorates the Virgin Islands' 175th anniversary of freedom from enslavement. It will debut on Monday, July 3, at Fort Frederik Museum.

On Satuday, Seven Minus Seven gallery will host an exhibition of paintings by St. Thomas artist Steve Counselman. The show is called Slow Divine Parade, and is a series of oil-on-wood paintings. The series commemorates the houseless population of St. Thomas, and the exhibition is also a fundraiser for the gallery's Clean and Clear mission to help the houseless.

Mango Tango Art Gallery opens the "The Haitian Spirit Show," featuring the wealth of creativity of the island. View metal sculpture, paintings, and textile art on Saturday, June 24.

Coming up at the sevenminusseven alternative art gallery is ICHI-GO ICHI-E. This fine art exhibit brings together six photographers from around the world: River Huston from Los Angeles, California; Kody Zenger of St Thomas; Clay Jones of St Thomas; Nura Qureshi from Berlin, Germany; Zack Schultebrant of St Thomas; and Debora Giammarco from New York City.

Cane Roots Art Gallery in downtown Christiansted opened a Crucian Christmas Festival exhibit on Dec.13. Gallerist Sonia Deane curated colorful paintings, drawings, and costumes by local artists that can be viewed during the holiday season through Jan 4.

After the art exhibit, the community is also encouraged to participate in the ‘Holidays in the Nighttime Skies’ Toy Collection Drive that will take place in the fort from 5-8 p.m.,

The project invites students in grades 7-12 to use a variety of creative forms, including poems, monologues, original songs, Tik Toks, reels and works of art, to depict how students see themselves embodying the life of David Hamilton Jackson today.

There’s a spirit in the paintings of Augustin Holder, a hat-wearing shadow figure, all in black except for a white collar peaking out. It’s an image at odds with the artist’s otherwise colorful abstractions. Imposing as the form may be, it’s not malevolent.
