The Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts (CMCArts) on St. Croix has announced its next exhibition, titled “REBIRTH — Spring Equinox” that will be on view from April 20 through May 25. The museum has scheduled the opening reception for 4-8 p.m., Saturday, April 20, with live music by Baz n Dem at 6:30 p.m. and small bites provided by Chef Chevy. Many artists will be available for personal talks about their work.
The exhibition, curated by Lucien Downes and organized by the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts, is based on themes of the seasonal spring equinox in the realms of rebirth, renewal, new beginnings and enlightenment. This time of year is marked as a time to embrace movement and growth. These themes are interpreted by the artists in conceptually broad dialogues or as literal as the artist chooses.
Over 20 Virgin Islands artists representing St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John are featured in this annual extravaganza curated by artist Lucien Downes, who is also included in the exhibition.
Artwork will be for sale and supports the educational exhibition programming of the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts and local artists.
