Veneta Harrigan Dies at 82

It is with great sadness that the family of Veneta “Maude” Harrigan announces her passing on March 23 in Cleveland Ohio. She was 82 years old. Maude was born May 15, 1937, in St. John’s (Seaview Farm), Antigua, West Indies.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Heskey; son, Nolly “Lesroy” King Sr.; grandson, Meshach Cornwall; and nephews: Calvin Ferrance and Bluel Ferrance.

She is survived by her children: Jean “Pam” Phillip (Ohio), Jacqueline Harrigan (Ohio) and Henry Harrigan Jr. (St. Croix); sisters: Rosita “Avis” Ferrance (St. Martin) and Ineta “Iota” Thomas (St. Croix); brothers: Luchland “Dala” (Lita) Thomas (St. Croix), Jeremiah “Enoch” (Kim) Thomas (Fla.) and Bernard Thomas (Texas); grandchildren: LeShawn (Shantay) Phillip Sr., Nolly “Nuncie” (Kyesha) King Jr., Olyncia King, Latisha King, Brandon King, Tiniese King and Christina “Ida” Skerrit; and great-grandchildren: LeShawn Phillip Jr., Teyshawn Phillip, Nolly L. King III, Nalique J. King, Mehki A. King, Shaquan Benjamin and Issac Williams.

She is also survived by nieces: Yáminah Gore, Alexandra Ferrance, Carolyn Ferrance, Yolanda A. Thomas and Melinda Thomas; nephews: Bruno Gore Sr., Cortney Thomas, John Thomas, Lance Thomas, Jase Thomas, Glenmore Ferrance, Warren Ferrance, Devon Ferrance and Dion Ferrance; cousins: Glendora Lewis (aka Baby Gee) and family, Christoblle Heskey and family, the late Norris Simon and family, and many more too many to mention; special friends: Janet Cochrane, Wilma Rodney, Christina Henry, and the St. Croix Branch Relief Society Sisters at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, April 5, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. with service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
