A two-story home in Anna’s retreat caused injuries to a firefighter and a home resident Sunday, according to the V.I. Fire Service.
Around 11:20 p.m., Sunday, June 11, two units responded to a 911 call to 394-185 Anna’s Retreat. The units found the home engulfed in flames and more units were called in.
On entering the building, firefighters managed to confine the fire to the first level. Once it was extinguished, they checked for hidden hot spots and performed a safety inspection before returning to their stations around 1:30 a.m.
One of the occupants and one firefighter received burns and were taken to Schneider Regional Medical Center for observation and treatment.
The porch, living room and kitchen areas, which were located on the upper level of the structure, sustained significant water damage. The fire is still under investigation.
