A decomposed body, identified as 38-year-old Jose Cruz Jr., was found Friday afternoon near the Ralph De Chabert Housing Community, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to the police, at roughly 1:25 p.m. Friday, the 911 emergency call center received notification that a cleanup crew working in the abandoned housing project discovered a partially decomposed body in one of the abandoned buildings surrounding the area.
Officers and detectives responded and found the partially decomposed body as described by the caller. The body was later identified by Ramon Casanova, the brother of the deceased.
Police said there were no obvious signs of foul play uncovered in the demise of Jose Cruz Jr. Detectives are processing the scene and continuing their investigation into this matter.
