Apartment Burglarized in Mutual Homes

Police on St. Croix are investigating a report of a burglary that took place sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

According to the V.I. Police Department, officers responded to a 7:35 a.m. call of a possible burglary at Mutual Homes in Frederiksted. The victim, whose name was not released by authorities, told officers that at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday she had secured the door of her apartment and fallen asleep. Waking up the following morning at 6:30 a.m., she realized that several personal items were missing from the apartment, including a mobile phone, wallet and purse containing personal documents.

The value of the missing items was valued at about $800.

The victim said other family members were also asleep in the apartment at the time of the burglary and were unharmed. She said it wasn’t the first time that someone had broken into the apartment while the family was asleep.

The case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information concerning the crime can phone the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-340-778-2211, the 911 call center or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
