Man, 70, Assaulted During Robbery Attempt

A 70-year-old man was relaxing in Emancipation Garden when he was assaulted by two suspects, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The man victim told police he was feeding birds in the park when two men approached him and asked him for money. He told them he did not have any money and one suspect hit him in the head with a handgun and the other kicked him in the stomach.

The victim was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center and was treated for bruises and contusions to his face and body.

This case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Police urged the public to report any information they have about the crime by calling detectives at 714-9834 or 715-5522, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
