Woman Kidnapped and Assaulted

A St. Thomas woman, 52, told police Friday that she was assaulted after she was kidnapped while walking around 2 a.m. Friday near Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, the Police Department indicated in a press release issued Wednesday.

The woman told police that a man she did not know forced her at knifepoint into a black Toyota Corolla, took her to Vessup Beach, struck her several times, and tried to take her clothes off. The woman said she fought the suspect and managed to escape.

After the victim contacted police, she was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment of knife wounds to her hands.

The woman described the suspect as a black male age 36 to 50 years. She told police he had a medium build and was around 5 feet 5 inches tall. The victim said the suspect spoke with a St. Thomas accent and wore a gray shirt and red pants.

This case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives. Police urge anyone who has any information regarding this case to call detectives at 714-9834, 715-5522 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
