Two Arrested on St. Thomas

Bruce Wayne Meyer, 49, was arrested about 3 p.m. Monday and charged with possession of stolen property after St. Thomas police allegedly found him with 33 pounds of copper fittings in his backpack, the Police Department indicated in a press release issued Wednesday. His bail was set at $10,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.

On Sunday, Toya L. Connor, 30, was arrested and charged with embezzlement and grand larceny after she was allegedly seen on video allowing a customer to take merchandise from KMart without paying for it. Connor was a supervisor at the Lockhart Gardens location.

Police said the merchandise taken by the customer totaled more than $750 but the customer paid less than $60 for the items.

Detectives said Connor was previously arrested and convicted of a similar crime while she was employed at another business. She was placed on a $70,000 bail and sent to jail pending her court appearance.
