Lt. Gov. Gerard Luz James II announced on Sunday that one of his top aides, Maryleen Thomas, director of the Banking and Insurance Division, will be his running mate as he seeks to wrest the governorship from the man who chose him to share the successful ticket four years ago.

TURNBULL SIGNS LIFE INSURANCE BILL

Gov. Charles W. Turnbull has signed a bill (No. 24-0260) that ratifies an agreement between the V.I. government and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. to provide life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance to government employees.

NORTH SIDERS' QUESTIONS GET FEW DIRECT ANSWERS

The newly reopened Dorothea Fire Station, the long-planned renovation of the Dorothea Tot Lot, and health concerns about Hull Bay's water topped the list of issues raised at Sunday afternoon's meeting of the Northside Civic Organization with public officials. Most of the residents' questions got answers to the effect that "we'll see what we can do."

The Verne R. Callwood Sr. Caribbean Basketball Confederation 16th annual Senior Championships got off to an exciting start this weekend at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center. Nine games were played over the weekend, four on Saturday and five on Sunday.
