Giving Tuesday is a time to put your money toward charities that do good in your community. These places depend on your help so they can help others. Here is a brief list of non-profit organizations in the USVI that would use your assistance Tuesday, Dec. 3, as well as year round. To add a non-profit organization to the list, send submissions to: visource@gmail.com.
Humane Society of St. Thomas
No one is more deserving and needing than the territory’s helpless animals.
The Humane Society of St. Thomas reminds us Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that occurs annually on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
“On this day we urge you to take a moment to think about the many voiceless animals on our island who rely solely on us for their survival. This #GivingIuesday, we ask that you join us in our mission to SAVE THE VOICELESS!
“Meet Rainbow who was brought to the shelter with her still nursing puppies. She had been hit by a car. Our Vet at the shelter successfully amputated Rainbow’s leg. All of her pups were fostered and nursed with bottles. Rainbow is now in a foster home and is scheduled to take her freedom flight very soon!
This #GivingTuesday we are asking for your help!
Additionally your gift will go twice as far through the generosity of the Randolph H. Knight Charitable Foundation
that will match each gift up to $10,000! Your support will help us continue to save the lives of animals in need and find them loving homes!”

Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands
The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands is seeking donations to its fifth annual holiday Virtual Giving Tree project.
“Last year, generous donors allowed us to raise $78,950, which was distributed to 34 USVI nonprofits,” said CFVI President Dee Baecher-Brown. “We invite the public to join us once again and help us spread holiday joy by supporting our community’s most vulnerable groups.”
Funds raised for the project are used to provide seniors, low-income families and children, the unhoused, and others with a variety of needs, including food, personal care products, holiday gift baskets, clothing, toys and more.
“We’ve reached out to the USVI nonprofit community to identify their organizations’ holiday-related needs, and we’ve received numerous responses,” said Baecher-Brown. “Now we’re seeking donors to help make their holiday wishes come true!”
Every donation makes a difference:
- $25 provides essential supplies for one family’s holiday meal.
- $50 offers additional resources for one family, such as toiletries and hygiene products.
- $75 helps cover the cost of toys and gifts for two children during the holiday season.
- $100 provides a full holiday meal kit.
My Brother’s Workshop Matching Pledges!
Giving Tuesday counterbalances the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and redirects our focus to acts of kindness and charitable giving. This year, Dick and Lynnae Kotz have generously pledged to match all donations up to $40,000 made now through Giving Tuesday.
Donations are the heartbeat of MBW and allow us to implement our mission of providing faith, hope, and purpose through mentoring, mental health counseling, education, paid job training, and job placement to youth of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is due to your support that we can fund our vital programs, reach more individuals in need, and work to create lasting positive change in the community.

Atelier St Thomas Arts Foundation / 81C Arts
Atelier St Thomas Arts Foundation / 81C Arts is a non-profit organization that produces art and education programs in historic Charlotte Amalie.
The organization was founded by Zack Zook in 2017, with doors opening in October 2020. For four years the organization has persisted in increasing program reach and community impact.
2024 has seen many developments for the organization, including a partnership with Silver Airways, aimed at increasing access to artistic opportunities throughout the Caribbean for VI artists by eliminating travel expenses. Other highly valued community partnerships include Alpine Securities, IPB & ICMC, and Viya, who have all contributed to 81C Arts’ new sister location in the Camille Pissarro building, where workshops and classes for community youth are facilitated.
What began as a contemporary art gallery and creative event venue space in 2020 has evolved into a multi-location project housing various programs aimed at bolstering creativity and access to the arts.
DigiLocal is an after school digital animation course offered throughout the school year, taught by instructor Jenique Jolly. Expression Through The Arts (summer youth art program) is conducted during summer months, taught by instructor Dyonna Potter.
The organization also hosts an Artist Support Program, offering no-cost art studio space to emerging Virgin Islands artists.
Meanwhile at the main gallery, the Artist Dialogues Series hosts education group gallery visits so that community youth can access professionally curated art exhibitions and engage directly with artists and curators, exploring artistic concepts, technique, and practices.
There are several tiers of giving:
Warhol: $1k-$2.5k
Basquiat: $2.5k-$10k
Pissarro: $10k-$25k
Town: $25k+
Pledges support general operating and/or specific programs. Interested parties are encouraged to contact 81C Arts and/or visit the gallery and discuss with Directors and staff in order to evaluate effective giving.
Donations can be made online via PayPal as well, with program support options listed on the pledge page.
