Election System to Host ‘The Great Debate’

Elections System of the Virgin Islands

Does the Virgin Islands need to ratify a constitution before defining its political relationship with the United States of America?

Supervisor of Elections Caroline F. Fawkes informs the public of the upcoming “Great Debate” scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 4. The debate, an educational forum for voters, one of several special events in commemoration of the Elections System 60th Anniversary, will be held at the University of the Virgin Islands Administration Building

Two teams will sound off on the topic: Is it time for our own constitution or to become an independent country, commonwealth or state? What’s best for Virgin Islanders? The debate can be viewed on YouTube at youtube/@electionsystem.

If there are any questions or additional information is needed, contact the Elections System offices at 773-1021 (St. Croix Elections Office) or 774-3107 (St. Thomas Elections Office).
