Hurricanes and Barracudas Claim Titles at Antilles School JV / Middle School Volleyball Tournament

Antilles School welcomed ten teams to their 2022 Junior Varsity / Middle School Volleyball Tournament this past weekend in the Mark C. Marin Center on St. Thomas. The event featured four junior varsity female teams and six middle school female teams. Unfortunately, there were not enough male teams to have a boy’s division.

Antilles School Hurricanes went undefeated as they won the Junior Varsity female division defeating St. Peter & Paul Jaguars in the championship game (25-22; 25-13). Tournament MVP Taylor Roy lead the way for the Hurricanes with 30 service points in her team’s three round-robin matches. But it was Dajahnelle Joseph who led the Lady Canes in the Championship Game with 16 service points. Kaitin Laplace led the Jaguars with seven points.

In the Middle School Girls’ championship game, Gifft Hill Baracudas avenged the loss they suffered in pool play by defeating Antilles School Hurricanes (22-25; 25-16; 15-12) in the final match. Tournament MVP MacKenna Morales led her team with 15 service points for the winning team. Morales tallied 57 service points in five games in the one-day tournament.  Taylor Spillane led the Hurricanes with nine service points.

Antilles School & The Department of Tourism Fight Against Cancer Varsity Volleyball Tournament is scheduled for October 21-22, 2022 at Antilles School’s MCM Center.  Seventeen teams from St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix will be participating in the event.  The tournament will also feature a coed volleyball rumble. All proceeds from the rumble and raffle will go directly to Cancer Support VI.  First games start at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and run until 10:00 p.m. On Saturday, the opening matches are scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and will run all day. Entry fee is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students with ID.
