A free Diabetes Health and Wellness Fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the University of the Virgin Islands Medical Simulation Center on St. Croix, hosted by the Virgin Islands Diabetes Center of Excellence.
The fair is for adults and children with diabetes, pre-diabetes, those with a family history of diabetes and those at risk for diabetes – overweight, high blood pressure, inactive or with a family history – according to a press release announcing the event.
Free services will include classes on how to live your best life with diabetes, HbA1C tests and blood pressure screenings, eye exams, foot exams, counseling with a diabetes specialist, nutrition and dietary classes, and medication management information.
There also will be low-impact exercise demonstrations, light refreshments, giveaways and door prizes, and entertainment for the whole family.
