VI Cycling Federation Releases Two-Person Time Trial Results of March 21st Race

Two of the youngest competitors in Sunday’s bike race teamed up for the Two-Person Time Trial, which was hosted by the VI Cycling Federation, and demonstrated that youth outweighed experience on this given morning. Elite cyclists Mikey Dizon-Bumann and Danielky Cedeño, both age 17, were up against 11 other teams within four racing categories.

All cyclists rode the same distance and teams of two were sent off at one-minute intervals. The Dizon-Bumann/Cedeño Team was the final team to leave the starting point at the entrance to Ha’ penny and the first to return to the same line, with a faster split of nearly 3 minutes on the return. They came through the halfway checkpoint near the Divi Carina Bay Hotel in 24:44, over 1 minute ahead of all other teams.  Most teams were able to take advantage of the tailwind on the return to post faster splits on the second half of the race. Dizon-Bumann and Cedeño completed the 18-mile, out-and-back course in a total time of 46:40, which guaranteed them a first-place finish overall.  The second-place team overall was David Parris and Glenn Massiah in a time of 49:45. The third-place team overall was Joey Swanson and Alex Betancourt in a time of 51:17.

In the Expert category, the team of Jerry Remie and Ralph Bartlett proved to be the fastest, while posting a solid 55:44.  The Sport team of Alvin Thomas and James Meyers finished in the gold position in a time of 59:01; Masters riders John Hourihan and Tom Kerry flew in with a time of 57:16.

While there were no riders in the Women’s category today, two female riders rode on mixed teams: Catherine Seguin with Troy Holloway in the Expert category and Robin Seila with her husband, Stephen Swanton, in the Elite category.

The next event is the DVSAC Ride Out at 7 a.m., on Thursday, April 8.  Cyclists are asked to affix a headlight and tail light to their bikes. The VI Cycling Federation participates in this event annually to show support for victims of domestic violence.  The Triple Bypass is the next competitive event, which will take place at 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 11.
