Kamal I. Latham, CEO of the U.S. Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (USVIEDA), recently led a business marketing mission to the 2019 Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council’s (SRMSDC) Gateway Business Conference. The conference was held from Sept. 4-6 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Orleans, La.

This conference gave the USVIEDA an opportunity to network with prospective investors, gain exposure and promote the USVI Economic Development Commission Tax Incentive Program to business investors from minority-owned companies in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. It was also an opportunity for the Authority to promote the territory as a prime location for doing business.

Latham communicated to multiple business leaders that the U.S.V.I. is ‘Open for Business’ and continues to be an exceptional option for investors. The conference attracted over 100 private and public sector representatives to New Orleans.

“Participating at the Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council’s Gateway Business Conference allowed us to connect with business leaders and suppliers from a variety of industries,” said Latham. “As we continue to seek investors who are interested in business development opportunities, we will work to ensure that those opportunities benefit our USVI economy,” he said.
