Rodolpha Veronica Maillard Dies at 73

Rodolpha Veronica Maillard

Rodolpha Veronica Maillard, also known as “Vi” or “Viola,” of Estate Humbug died on Feb. 13. She was 73 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Albert E. Maillard Sr.; daughters: Allyson Maillard, Sandra Maillard Goodwin and Jacqueline Maillard Green; sons: George Maillard Sr., Albert “Ali” Maillard III and Joshua Maillard Jr.; granddaughters: Tamika Maillard, Alishah Maillard, Michelle Goodwin, Kimayah Maillard and Makayla Maillard; grandsons: Jamie Maillard, Kenric Maillard, Maurice Goodwin, Albert Maillard IV, Raymond Green Jr., George Maillard Jr., Malachi Maillard, Malik Maillard, Jalen Green, Joshua Maillard Jr. and Jamil Maillard; great-grandson: Mekai Goodwin; sisters: Christine Parris and Nicole Griffin; and daughter-in-law: Arverille Maillard.

She is also survived by sons-in-law: St. Clair Goodwin and Raymond Green Sr.; nieces: Elizabeth Parris and Laverne Queeley; nephews: Charles Parris and Paul Queeley Jr.; sisters-in-law: Mavis Gilpin Payne, Anita Dowe and Joan Maillard; brother-in-law, Sydney; aunts: Francil Jones and Ionie Jones Pinders; uncles: Michael Jones, Samuel Jones, Franklin Jones, Ellsworth Jones, Adolphus Jones and Patrick Griffin; many cousins too numerous to mention to include: Barbara Liburd, Rosa Adams, Marcella Edwards, Jacinth, Althea, Doretta, Cherry and Gina, Derrick Jones, Lloyd Walters, Phyllis Walters, Patricia Walters, Leroy, Selwyn, Maxwell, Oscar, Clayton, Terrence, Samuel, Steve, Cardinal and Ellsworth Jr., and Carlton Tyson and family.

Other survivors include many adopted children, grandchildren and godchildren to include: Tamia and Emmaleah Turner, Kareem Bazil Jr., Kareem Bazil Sr., Irene Bazil, Shanisha, Louis Flynn, Roneil, Alexandria, Shedora, Dr. Emmanuel Graham, Lisa Cepeda-Nicholas, Joyce Richardson and a host of others; many more survivors include other relatives and friends to include: Her Church family here on St. Croix and abroad, Pastor Muriel Barnes and the members of Bethel Deliverance Center Church of God, Bishop Lennod Hamilton and Church of God of Prophecy, Pastor Danny McIntosh, Pastor Virginia Ventura and Miracle Revival Deliverance Tabernacle, the Ferdinand family to include Delores Parrilla and family, Renee Ferdinand and Jahsean, her dialysis family of St. Croix and Atlanta to include Germaine Brown, the nurses, staff and her caretaker at the Hemodialysis Center at Juan Luis Hospital, DCI in Atlanta Ga., Apostle Estrada and Mona Barnes of City of Refuge, Sis. Miriam Williams and family, Pearline Walters and family, Sis. Thomas of St. Thomas, Diantha Maillard, the Goodwin family to include Michael (Chulo) Goodwin, Khayan Goodwin, Jeron Goodwin, Marvin Goodwin, Valerie Denise Jimenez and family in Atlanta, Marie Felix. Mrs. Soanes, Valrica Bryson and family, and her Humbug family; as well as many others too numerous to mention.

There will be a viewing from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 1, at James Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 4040 Estate La Grande Princesse.

A Homegoing Celebration for Rodolpha Veronica Maillard will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 2. at City of Refuge, Barren Spot, Christiansted. The second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a service at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery

The family requests those in attendance wear shades of green at the Homegoing Celebration in honor of our dear departed.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Juan F. Luis Hospital Hemodialysis Unit. Make checks payable to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. On memo line put donation Hemodialysis Unit.
