Registered Sex Offender Arrested on Gun Charge

Detectives from the Economic Crime Unit, agents from the V.I. Department of Justice Investigation Division, and several members of the U.S. Marshals took part in an operation Tuesday that resulted in the arrest of 28-year-old Wade Clark, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to the police, the agents took part in a compliance check on Wade, a registered sex offender, at Mount Pellier, Frederiksted. The police report said two potted plants believed to be marijuana were found at the residence.

Police say Wade gave consent for officers to enter the residence, where in plain view were a firearm, ammunition, more than 600 marijuana plants, and numerous clear plastic bags of material weighing over eight hundred grams.

At 10:41 a.m. Tuesday Clark was placed in custody and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession or sale of ammunition, escape from jail or custody of an officer, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Clark was held on $25,000 bail and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
