V.I. Energy Office Extends Renewable Energy Rebates, Weatherization Programs

The Virgin Islands Energy Office (VIEO) has announced a one-year extension of the following Fiscal Year 2017 (FY17) programs into FY18 to include the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Rebate Program and the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).

The VIEO will continue to accept applications post-hurricane Irma and Maria for its EERE Rebate Program. Residents and small businesses are encouraged to take advantage of a 40 percent off savings on various Energy Star-rated products such as ice coolers, doors, windows, propane gas dryers, roof coating, etc.

Potential WAP clients are encouraged to apply; income limitations apply. Additional program applications that are being offered include the Sun Power Loan Program (SPLP) Phase II for homeowners and small businesses.

VIEO encourages interested individuals and current clients to visit the offices because VIEO is still without phone and Internet service. The offices are located at 41 Mars Hill, Frederiksted, St. Croix, and 4605 Tutu Park Mall, Suite 231, St. Thomas. Current hours of operation are 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday.
