Amparo Romero Gerard Dies at 82

Amparo Romero Gerard

Amparo Romero Gerard died surrounded by family on Feb. 11, in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was 82 years old.

She is survived by her children: Sandra Gerard-Leung (Brian), Frandelle L. Gerard, Claude S. Markoe Gerard (Leah) and Dr. Phyllis A. Gerard; grandchildren: Phillip J. Gerard (Carolyn), Wallace A. Phaire II (Karmina), Genevieve Gerard-O’Donoghue (Kenneth), Juliana Berry, Kyle Gerard, Karita Gerard and Kerel Gerard; great-grandchildren: Oliver Gerard, Ajah Gerard, Ariana Gerard and Logan Gerard; sisters: Margarita Maldonado and Ilma Ascencio; brother, Anatolio Romero; and brothers-in-law: Horacio Maldonado and Angel Ascencio.

She is also survived by sisters-in-law: Inez Dowling, Anita Romero and Isabel Romero; caregivers: Monica Samuel, Caraline Gordon and Rosharra Childs; close friends: the Anna’s Hope family, Dominga Osorio, Patria and Wilfredo Rivera, and Petra Rivera; families: Romero, Nieves, Avila, Acosta, Ascencio, Gerard, Morales, Cuencas, Dowling, Moorhead, Parrilla, Henderson, Barnes, Markoe, Soto, Santos, Joseph and Villafana; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at St. Patrick’s Church in Frederiksted. The family requests that attire be red and or white. Interment will take place in Frederiksted Cemetery.
