Car Stolen in Mount Pleasant

An armed man stole a car at gunpoint in the Mount Pleasant area while the car’s owner was standing nearby, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, officers were dispatched at 9:23 p.m. Monday to a robbery report. At the scene, the officers met with the victim, whose name was not released.

The victim told them he had parked his car and was standing near the road talking to another person when a Hispanic male approached and pulled what appeared to be a black handgun from the waistband of his pants. The armed man demanded the keys and, when the victim produced them, jumped in the vehicle drove off.

No on was injured in the incident.

Police asked anyone with information about the crime to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211 or 340-712 6106, the 911 emergency center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers VI, at 1-800-222-8477.
