Police Thursday arrested 23-year-old Jonathon Rivera, a resident of the William’s Delight Housing Community, and charged him in a shooting that took place earlier the same day.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the 911 emergency call center received a call at 6:50 p.m. Thursday reporting a shooting in William’s Delight. Officers and detectives responded and met with the victim, a 40-year-old male who lives in the area.

According to the preliminary police report, the victim had been in a previous altercation with the suspected shooter and came in contact with that evening. At that time, the victim was shot in the back.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital emergency room for further treatment and his condition is unknown at this time.
