St. Thomas Man Shot, Killed

Avery Martin, 27, died of multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday evening on St. Thomas, the V.I. Police Department reported.

It was the 10th homicide on St. Thomas since the start of the year, the 23rd in the territory.

Police were dispatched to a call of shots fired at about 6:40 p.m. in Hospital Ground. When officers arrived on the scene they saw Martin lying in the street with several gunshot wounds to his body. He was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center, and was later identified by family members.
