Crime Stoppers: All Crime Has a Cost

All crime has a cost and that cost is ultimately paid by the law abiding citizens of the community through higher prices and higher taxes. Reducing that cost puts money back in your pockets. If you know something, say something, as law enforcement cannot control crime without your help.

St. Croix: On Sept. 13 at approximately 9:45 a.m., four masked men robbed the Mini World Gift Shop located in the Sunny Isles Shopping Center. Witnesses say the robbers fled the scene in a maroon Ford SUV. Law enforcement needs your help. If you were in the area of Mini World and saw anyone lurking about or have heard of anyone talking about jewelry for sale at bargain prices, please say something.

St. John: On Sept. 4, an employee of Cimmaron Condos made a routine inspection of a property in Cruz Bay Battery Hill condos and discovered the residence had been burglarized. A television, stereo, DVD player, coffee maker and all the silverware had been stolen. Tell us what you know about this burglary thereby helping police solve this crime.

St. Thomas: On Sept. 16 at 9:40 a.m., an unknown black male, who was wearing all black, entered Gems and Gold Corner Store and pointed a gun at the owner. He then broke the glass showcase and took an undetermined amount of jewelry. Help identify this armed robber by telling Crime Stoppers what you know.

Let’s continue to help make our community a safer place to live by submitting information on these or any other crimes at www.CrimeStoppersUSVI.org, by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or by texting “USVI” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

Your tips are completely anonymous and the stateside operators speak several languages. If your tip leads to an arrest or the recovery of stolen property, illegal drugs or weapons, you will receive a cash reward to be paid according to your instructions. The minimum reward for the arrest of a robbery suspect is $900. For a burglar it is $714. In both cases the reward is increased by 10 percent of the value of any property recovered. Crime Stoppers’ maximum reward is $2,500.
