St. Croix Men’s League Has Knockout Tournament

The St. Croix Men’s League Knockout Tournament held its semi-finals on Sunday, Feb. 3. In the first semi-final, Rovers defeated Chelsea (7-3) to advance to the final; in the second semi-final Helenites advanced over Unique by default.
Rovers got their goals through Jonas Verhoff, Alex Washington, Ahmed Quatter, Alberto VanGurp Jr. (2), Sammy Abdulgani and Taha Qatam. Chelsea’s efforts came through Livingston Henry, Othni Thomas and Jamie France.
The second game failed to be completed as the Unique players walked off the field of play after one of their players received a red card for dangerous play. Helenites were leading the encounter by 4-0, through goals from Kurtly Peter, Garrick Mathurin, Kersan Marcellin and Ondino Griffiths after 30 minutes.
Both Rovers and Helenites will be in contention over the St. Croix Men’s League Knockout Tournament trophy when they face off at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Paul E. Joseph Stadium.
