Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation Announces Free Tennis Clinics

The general public is encouraged to participate in free, after-school tennis clinics in both districts. On St. Croix, after-school tennis clinics will be conducted for youth ages six and older at the Isaac Boynes Recreation Park in Estate Grove Place. The clinics will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 24, and will run through Friday, Dec. 21 every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 5-8 p.m. Adults may also participate in the Grove Place tennis clinic with a registration fee of $20, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation.
“On the island of St. John, after-school tennis clinics are being conducted at the Cruz Bay tennis courts every Friday from 3-6 p.m. for youth ages eight and up. Plans are also in place to re-activate the after-school tennis program at the Doris E. Hodge Tennis Courts at Sub Base on St. Thomas,” Commissioner St. Claire N. Williams said.
“The department is making every effort to bring after-school sporting activities to its recreational facilities in neighborhoods in both districts, and especially in areas where the facilities are being under-utilized. I encourage everyone to contact the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation Offices on their respective island for more information and to register for after-school programs,” Williams said.
