DPNR Reminds Candidates of Advertising Restrictions

Commissioner Alicia Barnes of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources issued a statement Wednesday reminding the public ing eneral and political candidates in particular about restrictions on political advertising.

In her announcement, she cited Preservation Commission TitIe 29 Chapter 3, Section 28141 2(H), which states, "No political signs or advertising of any type is allowed within the historic districts."

Posters, banners, and bumper stickers that have been erected within these historic districts are to be removed immediately, she said.

Descriptions of boundaries and maps can be obtained by contacting the State Historic Preservation Office at 1-340-773-1082, Ext. 2208 on St. Croix and 1-340-776-3605 on St. Thomas.
