SUV Passenger Hit by Gunfire

A 21-year-old man on St. Thomas told police he was shot while a passenger in an SUV traveling from Pilgrim’s terrace toward Bunker Hill. The injury occurred at about 4 a.m. Sunday, the Police Department indicated in a Monday press release.

The victim said he was in the rear seat when he heard four or five gunshots and the rear glass of the vehicle shattered. He said he felt a burning sensation to the upper right side of his back and he realized he was shot. The SUV’s driver took him immediately to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

This case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigations Bureau detectives.
