IGBA Presents Speaker on “The Wild Life in an Island Home”

The Island Green Building Association (IGBA) will have a free, public seminar from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, at The Marketplace on St. John, 2nd floor.
Renata Platenberg of the U.S. Division of Wildlife will share her knowledge and passion for protecting wildlife around new and existing island homes. Conserving wildlife habitat on St. John’s many residential areas can stabilize healthy ecosystems and a beautiful environment for our future – an important aspect of “green building.” Immediate benefits include enjoyment of native wildlife watching, lower landscaping costs, less excavation costs and less water usage.
Come learn how to be a good neighbor to your island wildlife. Gail Karlsson’s book, “The WildLife in an Island Home,” will be available at a discount to attendees; it gives practical advice and a fun understanding of wildlife we encounter around home.
The public is welcome to this free seminar. Call 227-1110 for more information.
