Residents Reminded to Not Dispose of Green Waste at Bin Sites

The VI Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) reminds all residents that green waste or yard waste is not to be disposed of at the bins sites or with household waste. All yard waste or green waste is to be taken directly to the landfills on St. Croix and St. Thomas and to the transfer station on St. John. Please follow directions of the VIWMA staff for the specific disposal locations at VIWMA’s respective facilities. All other waste, such as scrap metal, construction or demolition waste, bulk waste or white goods, are also to be taken directly to the landfills and transfer station.
Anyone who sees someone disposing of waste illegally can report it by calling the Compliance and Environmental Enforcement Division at 712-4956 on St. Croix or at 776-4844 ext. 292 for St. Thomas/Water Island/St. John. Please note the location of the illegal dumping, the time of day, vehicle model, and tag number when calling. You can also contact us at Report-A-Problem on our Web site at www.viwma.org.
For more information, contact the Office of Communications Management at 712-4951 or 690-4218.
