Capt. Galo I. Leguillou Dies in Puerto Rico

Capt. Galo I. Leguillou

The family of Capt. Galo I. Leguillou, U.S. Marine Corps (Retired), announces his passing on June 29, in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. Capt. Leguillou also grew up on St. Croix, where he attended kindergarten through 12th grade before leaving for a long career with the United States Marine Corps. Both his mother and father lived in Christiansted most of their lives. His father owned and ran a small store/rum shop in the heart of Christiansted – in a building that still stands today – less than 25 yards from the Christian "shan" Vegetable Market. Capt. Leguillou visited his friends and family on St. Croix frequently, as he still owns real property here. He was 70 years old.

Capt. Leguillou is survived by his wife, Marilia Del Rosario Torres Leguillou; children: Michele Marie Leguillou, Jean Pierre Leguillou and Jacques Rosario Leguillou; sisters: Marynol Leguillou Encarnacion and Belen Leguillou Encarnacion; the extended Encarnacion, Felix and Llanos families and other family and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his father, Tomas Leguillou, and mother, Severina Leguillou.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, at the Ceiba Funeral Home in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. Interment will follow at the Ceiba Municipal Cemetery.

Condolences can be sent to Mrs. Marilia Leguillou at Calle Tamesis No. 1634, URB El Paraiso, San Juan, PR 00926.
