The St. Thomas-St. John School District will hold Kindergarten Academy from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 4, at all elementary schools in the district. Parents should take their new kindergarten student to his or her assigned school to engage in activities that would be experienced during a regular school day. “For this activity, our schools have agreed to open their doors and provide an insight into kindergarten prior to the actual experience,” according to Sharon Richardson, the district’s director of Parent and Community Involvement. “While students are in classrooms with teachers, parents will be given the opportunity to complete their own hands- on activities, which will include items that will be useful as they work with their children during the summer.”
Elementary schools in the district will be holding kindergarten orientations at different times. Parents should call their child’s prospective school for the orientation schedule.
