Brief: 17-Year-Old Charged in 2007 Murder

March 20, 2009 — A 17-year-old St. Croix minor was arrested and charged with murder in the first degree in connection with the Aug. 13, 2007 homicide of 41-year-old Vicky Lynn Atkinson Brewer.
The minor, who is a ninth-grade student, was arrested about 6:30 a.m. Friday on a warrant issued by Judge Daryl Donahue. Names of minors are not released by police.
Brewer died after being shot in the neck. Her body was found in the vicinity of the Christiansted Cemetery.
The male minor, who lives in Western Suburb in Christiansted, was also charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
Bail was set at $1 million. The minor was remanded to the Youth Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
Commissioner James H. McCall lauded the Investigation Bureau detectives for their meticulous investigation into this case that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
