Blasting Resumes on Christiansted Bypass

PRESS RELEASE

JANUARY 15, 2009
Jan. 15, 2009 – Commissioner of Public Works, Darryl Smalls announced Thursday that blasting operations have resumed on the Christiansted Bypass and will continue periodically until the middle of February.
Residents within a two-hundred-foot radius of the blasts will be informed of the explosions in writing, as is required by protocol.
Residents outside this zone are being asked to observe the standard warning signals leading up to the time of blasting.
We would also like to inform residents that contractors on the Bypass are scheduling to pave the tie in of King Cross Street with the Bypass and an area in Mahogany Welcome at the eastern end of project. It is anticipated some maintenance work will be done on Little Hospital Street at the same time.
