Jan. 13, 2009 – Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen congratulated members of the 28th Legislature, who were sworn into office Monday, Jan. 12, on St. Thomas.
"I was pleased to attend the swearing-in ceremony for members of the 28th Legislature and welcome our new crop of senators," Christensen said. "There is much work ahead for all of us and I look forward to discussing issues facing the territory as they begin a new legislative term."
Christensen said she has full confidence in the majority, led by Senate President Adlah Donastorg Jr., and while they are Democrats, she is certain that they will reach across the aisle to work collaboratively – especially during these difficult times – to serve the wonderful people of the Virgin Islands.
Christensen said, like the members of the 28th Legislature, she believes that the economic and social issues before the territory are important and can only be solved with elected leadership working together.
"In that spirit, I am willing, as I have said before, to work with them and Gov. John P. deJongh Jr. to achieve mutual goals," Christensen said.
