LBJ Pump Station Force Main Repairs Completed

Jan. 10, 2009 – The VI Waste Management Authority updates the residents of John F. Kennedy Housing Community that repairs have been completed on the break that occurred adjacent to Building 14 earlier this week. The VIWMA and its task order contractor, GEC, were able to remove and replace approximately 30 feet of rotten ductile iron with PVC piping. Repairs were completed on Thursday evening at approximately 8 p.m. The LBJ Pump Station was placed back on line and pumping over Long Reef ceased.
The VIWMA advises all residents with impacted immune systems to avoid the area until the Department of Planning and Natural Resources has deemed it safe to frequent the waters in the Long Reef and adjacent areas.
