Skills Crush Prankton 5-0 in USVI Soccer Association Match at Schjang Ballpark

Dec. 22, 2008 — The Skills exploded for five second-half goals Sunday to beat Prankton 5-0 in a USVI Soccer Association St. Croix District match at the Schjang Ballpark.
Kenyatte Lebrun had a hat trick as he continuously beat a porous Prankton defense. On numerous occasions teammate Taylor McDonald, who scored the other two goals, came close to logging a hat trick of his own.
The teams battled evenly for the first 45 minutes, with both coming close to breaking through. But neither team was able to capitalize on their chances, and they went into halftime tied 0-0.
The second half was a completely different story as the Skills came out on a mission. It was an all-out attack led by Lebrun and McDonald, and it was not long before the Skills were on the board. Ever the opportunist, McDonald jumped on a ball that the Prankton defense failed to clear and knocked home the first goal of the match in the 55th minute. Things would go downhill quickly for Prankton from there.
Ten minutes later it was McDonald again taking a perfect pass over the top to find himself in a one-on-one with the Prakton goalkeeper. It was no contest as McDonald easily beat the keeper for his second goal of the afternoon in the 65th minute of the match.
With most of the match now being played on the Prankton half of the field, it was obvious that the team was tiring fast.
After McDonald scored two quick goals, it was Lebrun's turn to take up the Skills attack. He was able to find the net in the 75th minute after collecting a ball that was cleared by the Prankton defense and slammed it into the back of the net for a 3-0 lead.
Continuous pressure by the Skills front line soon rewarded them with another goal in the 80th minute as McDonald again found the net. He completed his hat trick for the match five minutes later when he collected a beautiful long pass from Lisholi Bailey, beat one defender, then blasted it past the goalkeeper for the final goal of the match.
The soccer association will take a break for the Christmas season before beginning the fourth quarter of its season in January.
