Bridal Magazine Engages St. John

Dec. 22, 2008 — St. John is in the spotlight in the January-February issue of Bridal Guide, with additional photos slated to appear in the magazine's March-April issue, the Tourism Department said Monday.
"Our readers are savvy brides who are looking for the ideal location for their wedding and honeymoon, and the U.S. Virgin Islands really offers something for everyone," said Fashion and Beauty Editor Dana Wagner.
Bridal Guide has a print circulation of 189,430. Additionally, copy from the issue will appear on Bridal Guide's website, which gets 89,732 unique visits a month.
Bridal Guide gave St. Croix the honors in its November-December 2007 issue.
"We wanted to showcase to the readers of Bridal Guide just how beautiful and different each of our islands are," Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty said, according to a news release from the Tourism Department. "The coverage received in this 2009 issue exceeds our expectations by all measures."
The Tourism Department hosted the Bridal Guide team on St. John in August. They visited numerous locations, including Trunk Bay, Cruz Bay and The Westin Resort and Villas.
Trunk Bay is the scene for the largest of the features, "Goddess of Love." It features a couple enjoying Trunk Bay. The adjoining editorial copy highlights Trunk Bay's reputation as a beautiful beach.
The Westin received a number of editorial mentions, as well, as a result of hosting the crew for the shoot. The copy included details on its various on-site activities and romance packages.
The issue also features local model JeT'aime Cerge, who appears in the bridesmaids story, "Tropical Punch." It's a six-page beauty feature shot in downtown Cruz Bay.
The Tourism Department also gets several mentions as the place to go for more information on the territory.
For every dollar the Tourism Department spent on hosting Bridal Guide, it expects to get back $54 in advertising value, according to the news release.
