Ocean Conservacy to Conduct Youth Summit on Oceans

The Ocean Conservancy will be conducting the “2007 Youth Summit on the Oceans: Virgin Islands Future Leaders Turning the Tide” from Oct. 24th – 30th at locations on St. Thomas and St. John . The Summit will bring together approximately 40 youths, ages 16 – 24, from the British and U.S Virgin Islands, to focus on issues related to the state of our marine and coastal resources, their importance and future. The Summit will provide the territory's future leaders with information to help preserve Virgin Islands' precious marine resources. Activities will include tours on Atlantis Submarine, hands-on projects at the Virgin Islands Environmental Resource Station (VIERS) at Lameshur Bay on St. John, tours of USVI and BVI marine protected areas, presentations by young leaders, experts in science, conservation, tourism and governance as well as think tank sessions.
