Brief: VIPD Announces Traffic Restrictions for Women’s Race

June 2, 2007 — St. Croix Police have announced parking restrictions and street closings for the annual Women’s Race being held in Christiansted on Sunday.
The race course, which runs from Christiansted town, east to Canegata Ballpark and back to Christiansted, will be closed to vehicular traffic during the race. Roads will reopen once it is deemed safe for vehicular traffic to proceed.
Parking restrictions will be in effect from noon until the end of the event for the following areas:
• King Street;
• Company Street;
• Market Street between King and Company Streets; and
• Church Street between King and Company Streets.
Vehicles found parked in prohibited areas will be ticketed or towed at the
owner’s expense. Vendors not authorized by The Women’s Coalition will not be allowed to do business within 1,000 feet of the Fort Christian park area.
McFarlande says the cooperation of the motoring public is essential to ensure the safety of all race participants.
