Police Investigating Shooting Death of St. Croix Woman

June 2, 2007 — St. Croix Police are investigating the death of Brendalee Melendez Belardo, a 30-year old resident of Estate CampoRico, Frederiksted. Belardo sustained a single gunshot wound in an incident that was reported to police early Saturday.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the Scenic Road area at 8:40 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a body being found.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by Medical Examiner Dr. Michelle DuPre.
The incident is presently classified as a D.O.A. (Dead on Arrival). Police have not yet ruled out foul play.
Police are actively seeking information to aid in their investigation of this incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the confidential Criminal Investigation Bureau hotline at 778-4950 or 911.
