Brief: Gov. Turnbull Holds Transition Meeting With Incoming Administration

Dec. 4, 2006 — Pledging to ensure the smoothest transition possible to the incoming administration, Gov. Charles W. Turnbull and Lt. Gov. Vargrave Richards met Monday at Government House with Gov.-elect John P. de Jongh, Lt. Gov.-elect Gregory R. Francis and their respective transition teams, according to a release issued Monday.
Turnbull has named Government House Chief of Staff Juel T. Molloy and Public Works Commissioner George Phillips to co-chair the transition team representing his administration.
Within 48 hours, the various transition cluster teams will begin meeting with various departments and agencies heads to review status of operations.
According to the release, DeJongh thanked Turnbull and Richards for their pledge of cooperation and said he looked forward to both transition teams working together in the best interest of the territory.
The governor-elect introduced two-thirds of the chairs of his transition team: Andrew Penn Sr. of St. John and Ricardo Charaf of St. Thomas. The St. Croix chair, Jennifer Nugent- Hill, was off island. DeJongh also introduced Louis Penn as the contact person for his transition team.
