Dec. 12, 2005 – A fourth man was arrested Monday in connection with the murder of David Geiger.
Nestor Colaire, 18, of Estate Bethany, St. John, was arrested by members of the Major Crime Unit of the V.I. Police Department after he returned to St. John from Florida.
According to a release from Police Commissioner Elton Lewis, Colaire returned from Florida to answer charges listed in an arrest warrant issued in November of attempted first degree murder, accessory after the fact and arson.
Police arrested Colaire at 11:25 a.m, the release said.
Colaire was the last to be arrested of four men sought under the warrant.
Tullius C. Stewart was arraigned earlier this month and pleaded not guilty to charges of grand larceny and possession of stolen property. (See Suspect In St. John Grand Larceny Arrested, Then Released.)
Renell Lettsome, wanted for first degree murder, turned himself in to British authorities on Tortola, also earlier this month. Lettsome was returned to the territory and is in custody unable to post the $1 million bond set in his case. Lettsome also pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, attempted murder, first-degree assault, third degree assault, arson, and use of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence. Last week Robert Ferguson, 19, turned himself in to the Major Crime Unit after he also returned from Florida, where he had fled. Ferguson is charged with attempted murder, accessory after the fact and arson for his alleged role in the incidents which took place at the Geiger residence in October.
An alleged robbery which occurred at Geiger's house in Estate Grunwald Oct. 23, was the apparent catalyst for Geiger's subsequent murder on Oct. 29. After Geiger was bludgeoned to death, the bed in which his body lay was set on fire.
Geiger's 14-year-old son Nathan was also brutally beaten in the incident and apparently left for dead. He was treated in a Puerto Rico hospital.
Colaire is being held at the Corrections Bureau on St. Thomas in lieu of $500,000 bail.
