Celebrate October as Adopt-A- Shelter-Dog Month
The Humane Society of St. Thomas, the ASPCA and Pethealth Inc. celebrate October as Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month. With our theme Every Dog Counts, we join together to raise awareness about dogs in need of adoption.
In addition to dogs and cats available for adoption at the shelter, several events featuring dogs for adoption will be scheduled during the month of October concluding with Barktoberfest, which will be at Bolongo Bay Beach Resort on Sunday, Oct. 30, from noon to 5 p.m.
Barktoberfest offers a fun-filled afternoon where families and their pets can enjoy a day at the beach. Contests include: Best Trick, Fastest Dog, Best Costume, Best Kisser, and Best Island Dog. The event is free to the public. There is $10 fee to enter the contests. Raffles offering a variety of prizes will be held and a Blessing of the Animals will be conducted in the afternoon.
