SHELTER PLANS TO BE UNVEILED AT DOGGIE BALL

Jan. 28, 2003 – Put on your glad rags and dust off your dancing shoes. The Humane Society of St. Thomas will hold its 25th annual Valentine's Ball on Feb. 8 at Marriott Frenchman's Reef Beach Resort.
"It's the best party of the year," Joe Aubain, society president, said.
The event will begin with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., to be followed by dinner and dancing at 8 p.m. to music by the Starlites.
Tickets are $100 per person. They are available from any board member and at the shelter in Estate Nadir, the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce offices, Home Again, Jan-Michael's Hair Studio and Soft Touch Boutique.
Aubain said the evening will feature a silent auction, the Humane Society's famous "Pluck-a-Duck" for prizes and the "Doggie Ball" raffle. The highlight of the evening, though, will be the unveiling of plans for the organization's new shelter, which Aubain said will be located up the hill across Weymouth-Rhymer Highway from Cost-U-Less.
The money raised goes to fund operations at the animal shelter.
The Humane Society will provide a free shuttle from Havensight Mall to Frenchman's Reef, running continuously from 6 p.m. Aubain urged ball attendees to take advantage of the service to alleviate parking congestion at the hotel.
