St. Croix Hosts Annual Agriculture and Food Fair
Visitors wanting to sample delicious Caribbean foods, fruits and vegetables should attend the 29th Annual Agriculture and Food Fair to be held during President's Day weekend, February 19-21, at Estate Lower Love. Join in this annual St. Croix exhibition featuring food, music, crafts and tropical plants from farmers representing the USVI, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other Caribbean islands. This year's theme is "Agriculture 2000 and Beyond: No Farming, No Food." For more information, call (340) 778-0997.
Improve Your Mind, Body and Soul at the Fifth Annual "Evenings with Omega"
New York's Omega Institute for Holistic Studies is offering Monday evening presentations on St. John as an opportunity for vacationers and locals to explore their minds during the fifth annual "Evenings with Omega" series. The series includes the following: Jon Kabat-Zinn, best-selling author of "Full Catastrophe Living," presents how to lower stress through mental powers, January 24; Joan Borysenko speaks about the value of peaceful living and compassion in the modern world during "Rhythms of the Heart," January 31; and a look at the role of emotions in healing presented by Dr. Candace Pert, February 7. The lecture series is free to the public and held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in downtown Cruz Bay. For more details, call (340) 693-5153. The Omega Institute also welcomes locals to attend classes with the institutes "learning vacationers." Classes available to the public are yoga, Afro-Cuban dance, island music, time management, writing and belly dancing. Those attending the day classes will also have the opportunity to learn more about the subjects addressed in the public series. Reservations are required to attend the day classes. Information About USVI Hotels, Resorts and Inns Now Available on USVI-Based Web Site
The USVI-based Internet site, www.caribbeanchannel.com, recently announced the launch of two new Web pages featuring information about "Hotels & Resorts" and "Inns & Small Hotels" in the territory and throughout the Caribbean. The site also provides stories and audiovisual information about cruise ships, food and dining, history and culture, golf and tennis, sailing, music and festivals, shopping, weddings and much more. News Clarification and Update: USVI Radio Station Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Listeners will not only be able to hear daily reports about the territory from the "Good News Guy" on WSTA Radio, but they will also be able to hear all of the radio station's programs including: Lee Carle's NewsDay, Addie Ottley's Morning Show, Brownie and Walter and the station's many other hosts during its 24-hour broadcast on the Internet.
