NWS Issues Flood Advisory for St. Croix

The National Weather Service in San Juan Tuesday morning issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for St. Croix.

The advisory was to remain in effect until 9:15 a.m.

According to the weather service, at 6:11 a.m. Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms.

“This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Near two inches of rain have already fallen. Some locations that will experience flooding include Grove Place, Frederiksted South, Christiansted and Frederiksted,” the advisory read.
A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or pondingof water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
