Domestic ferry operations at the waterfront on St. Thomas will be moved to the secured area of the Edward Blyden IV Marine Terminal beginning Tuesday, Aug. 15, according to a press release issued on Monday by the Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA).
Transportation Services of St. John Inc. and Varlack Ventures, which provide inter-island service to and from St. John, and the QE IV, which travels to and from St. Croix, are being relocated from the open area on the eastern end of the waterfront bulkhead to the gated area near the Blyden Terminal (adjacent to the fruit stand). Boarding and disembarking will take place at the most eastern gate in the secured area on the bulkhead. Taxis will also be staged nearby.
“The move is being implemented to improve customer service and the traveler’s experience at the waterfront,” Executive Director David Mapp said. Passengers waiting to travel to St. John or St. Croix will have access to the nearby restaurant and restrooms in the Blyden Terminal, he said.
