Othniel Llewellyn Caines Dies

Othniel Llewellyn Caines died on Oct. 22.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ann Constantia Caines and Joseph E. Caines; grandparents: Elsie Polidore, Frances Broom, Daniel Peters and Joseph Caines Sr.; son, Gregory L. Caines; brother, Raphael S. Caines; aunt, Lillian Peters; and uncles: Ezekiel Peters Albert Peters Moses Peters, Samuel (Gerald) Caines and Hugh Sackey.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona Cardona Caines; sister, Damaris (Elsie) Caines Torres; brother: Reynold J. Caines; nieces: Jacqueline Williams, Damaris (DeeDee) Torres, Erika Caines and Sonya Caines; nephews: Michael, Richard, and Edward Caines, Reynaldo (Junito) Torres and Angel Torres Jr.; sisters-in-law: Nilda Cardona and Brynhilda Caines; brother-in-law, Angel Torres Sr.; and close family and friends: the Peters family, Richards family, Williams family, Harrigan family, Wade family, Francis (Estie) family, Bostic, Thompson (Harry Maynel) family and Jacobs (Stanley and Sonia) family.

He is also survived by doctors: Dr. Boucher, Dr. Cintron, Dr. Graham, Dr. Campbell and Dr. Harrison; caregivers: Caring Angels of Georgia, Wendy Phoenix and Continuum Care (Nurse Lindy); organizations: Sunny Isles Baptist Church, U. S. Army, Hampton Institute, UVI, Charles Hardwood Hospital, Juan F. Luis Hospital, Friends of Denmark, Toastmaster, AARP (Past Chapter President) and Toastmasters International; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.


A viewing will be held from 3-5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, at Divine Funeral Services Chapel, No. 129 Peterโ€™s Rest.

A second viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 2, at Sunny Isles Baptist Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery Veterans Section.
