Police on St. Croix are investigating a pair of unrelated robberies that took place on the island this week, according to the V.I. Police Department.
One robbery occurred in Estate Sion Farm, but nothing was taken from the victim. The second happened in Estate Mt. Pleasant West. A minor female was robbed of her cell phone.
Officers were called to Estate Sion Farm at about 8 p.m. Wednesday. The male victim told police he was parking his vehicle near his house when he was approached by a masked man who displayed a handgun and yelled for him to get out of the car. Another person, who was out of the victim’s line of sight, tugged on him, trying to get him out of the vehicle.
After failing to get the man out of his car, the two suspects ran from the area on foot fleeing south. Police canvassed the area but did not find anything.
Just before 10 p.m. Thursday, a female minor told police she was walking with a group of friends in the Mt. Pleasant West area when a male minor approached her and asked to borrow her cell phone to make a call. She refused and the male took the phone and fled toward the elementary school. The victim went home and told her father who called police.
The suspect was described as a male in black pants, a black T-shirt and a gray hat. The cell phone was described as a blue Galaxy S4 inside a pink and blue case.
Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are following up on both cases.
